Situation / Location
The four town houses are located on the right bank of the city of Lucerne, in a privileged location in a residential district. The location on the south side offers an ideal sun exposure and an excellent view of the nearby lake, the city and the Alps.
Tapping / environment The town villas are easily reachable on foot from the Adligenswilerstrasse over the garden. A network of paths with stairs and sidewalks from large-format concrete elements opens up the individual houses. The space is equipped with various green elements designed from the open meadow, bordered by dense bushes and shrubs strategically placed in groups. The surrounding walls in concrete are realized with a special mixture of gravel and water-blasted surface.
structure / material
The houses are built of solid masonry made of yellow Jurassic limestone. The roof and loggia incisions are covered with plates of the same material. This natural stone is formed in a lagoon as sedimentary rock dating about 150 million years old. It was mined already 2000 years ago from the Romans and used as a high quality building material. The use of high quality natural stone underscores the value of townhouses and is in close dialogue with the historic structure of the environment.
Facade / openings
The houses have no classical windows, but skylights and large incisions for terraces and loggias. The effect is surprising inside with great brightness and exciting lighting with the reflection of the light in the nearby lake itself. Rooms which are deeper in the ground are also well exposed. The generously sized openings function as a link between residential and green space.
Interior structure / Flats
The building structure is mainly created in reinforced concrete. Inside the wall panels allow for flexible room arrangement of the houses with well-proportioned rooms and generous ceiling heights. The interior is tailored to the personal needs of the owner
